Brown vs. Board

Brown vs. Board is about Oliver L. Brown going against the board of education. This civil rights movement helps give African Americans the same education as white men, women and children. This is of the most significant movements in the country. In simple terms, the Brown vs. Board was established because of separate schools for black and white children. To Kill a Mockingbird was written around the time Brown vs. Board was going on. Within the book, everyone is friendly and everyone gets along but if the book was based before the movement, everything would have been different. For Jem and scout in school, they would have been in separate school from African kids. Harper Lee based the book off of how everything would have been after the movement or if the situation had never happened. Thanks to Harper Lee, we can now see life as it was in Maycomb, Alabama once the movement has taken place.

  1. Great job Lexi! Good job explaining how it would have changed the whole book if it did not happen. I also noticed that even though the Brown v. Board many people were still racist against blacks. You know how Scout's father lawyers for African Americans, well I think it is wrong that people make fun of her for that. Keep up the good work!

  2. Man lexi i really like your post even tho i cant read it! it was so exciting to read because of all the information i got to learn. You should think about becoming a writer and not getting mad over little things. You can write out how crazy your life gets! it would be a great way to express the way you feel on paper and not others.
